LA GRANGE, IL – Six-foot-eleven Baye Fall had a couple of quality opportunities Saturday to make an on-case statement as to why his supporters can claim he’s the No. 1 prospect in high school basketball’s national Class of 2023.

And he certainly made the most of both of them.

Fall (pictured) stood out – both literally and figuratively – among the 240 players who took part in the first day of the annual Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp at the Park District sports facility in this Chicago suburb.

DUNCANVILLE, Texas – Athletes on the rosters of high school programs in nine states were among the players in the Top 30 Cream of the Crop Game that wrapped up the 15^th annual Pangos All-South Frosh/Soph Camp Sunday afternoon in the Duncanville Fieldhouse.

Sophomores from Texas (Robert Jones Jr.), Louisiana (Christopher Lockett Jr.) and Oklahoma (Brandon Garrison/pictured) shared camp Most Outstanding Player honors as determined by event director Dinos Trigonis and his advisory committee.

Five-foot-eleven sophomore point guard TJohnn Brown (South High in Garland, TX), with 10 points, four assists and three steals, was selected the Top 30 contest’s Most Outstanding Player after lead the white jerseys to a 103-95 victory.

DUNCANVILLE, Texas – The annual, two-day Pangos All-South Frosh/Soph Camp, held in the spiffy Duncanville Fieldhouse, tipped off Saturday afternoon.

As always, the event – which attracted 200-plus players (with more expected Sunday) – and included a significant percentage of the better current freshmen and sophomores from within Texas, as well as Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

But it the camp’s depth of quality prospects also expanded to Alabama, Tennessee and Florida, as well as such distinctly non-Southern/Southwestern states as Minnesota and California.

The players were divided into 24 teams, with games played on three of the facility’s six courts, and each squad playing twice over the course of the eight sets of games that wrapped up about 9 o’clock (CT) Saturday evening.

ST. GEORGE, UTAH – Jordan Ross put on a dazzling performance to lead his Top 30 Crème of the Crop squad to victory Sunday afternoon to wrap up the two-day, Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp in the Net’s on Fire facility.

Ross (pictured) is a 6-foot-1 sophomore at Pleasant Grove – located about 270 miles north of St. George and also in Utah.

He scored 11 points with five rebounds and seven assists to dominate the contest for the white jersey-wearing squad in its 142-126 decision over its dark jersey counterpart.

ST. GEORGE, UTAH – The location may have changed by some 400 miles to the northeast.

But the first day of the Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp, held at the Nets on Fire’s four-court facility, maintained the high-level of boys’ high school basketball players that the annual event normally showcases at Southern California sites.

The move, of course, was necessitated because of the California restrictions for indoor gathering and athletic competition in the current COVID-10 climate.

One of the highlights of Saturday’s action was a match-up of two of the better “big” prospects, regardless of class standing, in the west.
