REDONDO BEACH – The Summer Beach Bash is set for Saturday and Sunday at Redondo Union High, with a series of “showcase” games serving as tune-ups for the Section 7 (Glendale, AZ) and Cali Live (Roseville) boys’ basketball tournaments over June’s final two weekends.

Among those sending teams to the event are traditional powerhouses Sierra Canyon, Bishop Montgomery, Westchester and Long Beach Poly.

Daily admission is $15 (covering games in both gyms), with ample free parking on campus just a short walk from the gym.

The host Sea Hawks return 12 lettermen from a team that was 25-6 last, with losses in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinals and in the State Southern D-I regional second round.

DRAPER – Many of the top boys high school basketball programs in Utah – and beyond – have been on display at Juan Diego High in this Salt Lake City suburb the past two days.

The Great Western Summer Classic, which has become one of the elite “real high school team” events anywhere over the past few years, continues Friday and wraps up Saturday.

Each of its games (which are also being played at surrounding high schools) is being lived-streamed by BallerTV.

Utah state champions Lehi (6A) and Salt Lake City Judge Memorial (3A) are among those that have been in action here, while Owyhee of Meridian (the Idaho 5A winner) turned in two strong efforts Thursday in knocking off traditional Utah power Corner Canyon and a split Judge Memorial squad.

LAS VEGAS – The 22^nd Pangos boys basketball All-American Camp wrapped up Tuesday afternoon with a couple of competitive and down-to-the wire all-star games at Bishop Gorman High.

In the Top 60 Cream of the Crop clash, 6-foot-7 Chuck Love III (from the Class of 2025; he attends La Lumiere in La Port, IN) scored 25 points to help the blue jerseys edge their red counterparts, 103-99.

And, in the event’s finale, the red jerseys – despite trailing by 12 points in the first half and six at intermission – used a dominant, Brayden Burries-sparked second half to knock off the blue jerseys, 114-106, in the Top 30 game.

LAS VEGAS – Two of the top players in the camp could be matched up Tuesday morning as the third and final day of the 22^nd Pangos All-American boys’ basketball camp is set to tip.

When the North Carolina and Virginia camp squads hook up at 9:30 on Court 1, it’s likely that Tounde Yessoufou (St. Joseph of Santa Maria in central California) and Jacob Lanier (Maumelle in Arkansas) could go head-up at each end of the floor.

The 6-foot-6 Yessoufou (a Top 30 all-star selection here a year ago) is a probable Top 5 player here from the class of 2025 while the 6-6 Lanier ­(pictured, courtesy Devin Ugland) – the Most Outstanding Player at the Pangos All-South Frosh/Soph Camp in Texas last October – has been the standout from the class of 2026 over the first two days here.

LAS VEGAS – Terrific backcourt play . . .

That tidily sums up my observations of Sunday’s first night of the 22^nd Pangos All-American Camp at Bishop Gorman High.

Brayden Burries (Roosevelt High in Eastvale in SoCal) and Jerry Easter (Toledo by way of La Lumiere Prep in La Porte, IN) – among the early front-runners for spots on the 2025 McDonald’s All-American team – were the lynchpins to eased-up wins by Notre Dame and Illinois, respectively, in the first round of game action.
