DENVER – This city is home to one of the oldest high schools in America as Manual High School opened its doors in 1892.

But for all of its historical elegance, the school’s gymnasium played host to some of the region’s very best of some of the youngest hoopsters of the latest generation.

Saturday’s Day I of the weekend’s 4^th West Coast Elite/Denver Camp featured middle school players from in and around the city.

Although there wasn’t an abundance of size on hand with just a half-dozen of the approximately 70 players in the camp checking in at six-feet or taller there were a lot of quality guards and forwards.

THOROFARE, NJ – The Pangos All-East Frosh-Soph Camp was wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the RiverWinds Center with its Top 30 All-Star Game culled from the 200 or so players who competed in the two day event.

And, although several players were outstanding in the final contest, it was just as noteworthy for the guys that didn’t play in it as it was for those that did perform in the game that was won by the squad wearing white jerseys, 125-116.

For example:

*Three freshmen from the Team Rio travel program, Scotty Lewis, Cole Anthony and Bryan Antoine, were locks to play in the Top 30 Game after superb efforts on Saturday.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – Saturday was the opening day of the annual Pangos All-East Frosh/Soph Camp at the RiverWinds Center.

And the emphasis in excellence rested firmly on the “Frosh” side of the event.

Among the first-class passengers on the boatload of quality prospects from the Class of 2019 in attendance were three players from the Team Rio program that is sponsored in part by the Mario Chalmers Foundation.

And it took just one sequence in his first camp game to demonstrate why the 6-foot-4 Scotty Lewis (Tinton Falls, NJ, Ranney) could prove to be one of the top half-dozen or so – at the very least – prospects in his national class.

LA GRANGE, IL – Unlike the previous week during the All-South Camp in Texas – hello Chris Bassey – there was no dominating player in the range of 6-foot-10 during the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp that wrapped up Sunday afternoon in the Park District Gymnasium.

Mind you, though: There was no shortage of high-caliber prospects on hand at a whole lot of other sizes.

Not surprisingly, Chicago high schools were once again well-represented at the Dinos Trigonis-fronted event that drew the likes of talent evaluators Clark Francis (HoopScoopOnLine), Ronnie Flores (Cal-Hi Sports and BallIsLife), John Stovall (ESPN.com)

LA GRANGE, IL – A year ago, then-freshman De’Sean Allen-Eikens (Williston, ND) had a terrific first day at the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp.

But an injury kept him out of the Top 30 All-Star Game that was played on the concluding Sunday afternoon.

Flash forward 12 months and, after another couple of scintillating performances on Saturday in the Park District Center in this Chicago suburb, the affable Allen-Eikens promised to make an appearance in Sunday’s top all-star game – if selected to play, of course.
