NEWARK, Ca. – The 11^th NorCal Tip-Off Classic has seven games Saturday at Newark Memorial High featuring several squads that could be competing for California state championships in March.

The most notable of those come in the final two games, with Sacramento Capital Christian takes on Temecula Rancho Christian at 7 and then Oakland Bishop O’Dowd and L.A. Fairfax wrapping up things at 8:30.

Action begins at 11 a.m. Admission is $13 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and $5 or those 5 or younger.

REDONDO BEACH, Ca. – Four competitive Ryse Williams/Pac Shores Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday set the stage for a couple of intriguing championship semifinals on Friday night.

L.A. City Section squads Westchester (over Dominguez) and Narbonne (over Oak Park) collected victories against strong Southern Section teams to set up an “L.A. City Open Division playoff preview game” of sorts at 8 o’clock Friday night.

And host Redondo Union got a 29-point effort from senior guard Zekiah LoVett to hold off Mayfair and gifted sophomores Josh Christopher (31 points) to earn its spot in a 6:30 Friday semifinal against Santa Margarita, which held off a scrap St.

REDONDO BEACH, Ca. – The 2017-18 Southern California boys’ basketball season gets off to what should be a rousing beginning Monday afternoon at Redondo Union High.

The 66^th Ryse Williams Pac Shores Tournament – with a title revised to honor the former Redondo standout who passed away last June after a bout with cancer – will feature eight games today in the school’s main and auxiliary gymnasiums.

Six programs that participated in the Southern Section or L.A. City Section Open Division playoffs are among those in what will be one of the strongest fields of any pre-Christmas event in California.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – The Dinos Trigonis-fronted Pangos All-Frosh/Soph Camp fall tour came to another conclusion Sunday afternoon at the River Winds Center with its fourth stop that lured many of the very best players from among the sophomore (2020) and freshmen (’21) classes in the east.

The camp, and the Top 30 All-Star game, was highlighted by the presence of two of the best sophomore guards in the east – and beyond – in Posh Alexander and Marcus Dockery, based in the Bronx and Washington, DC, respectively.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – Marcus Dockery got in front of the storm (due to hit the region Sunday) by about 24 hours Saturday afternoon and evening in the River Winds Community Center.

The 6-foot-1, left-handed sophomore from Roosevelt High in Washington, DC was raining jump shots on anyone and everyone who tried to check him during the first day’s action of the Pangos All-East Frosh/Soph Camp.

Dockery was assigned to the “North Carolina” squad (one of 20 for the approximate 190 or so players in attendance) but wasted little time springing into action with the “Virginia Commonwealth” team, scheduled on Court 1 just before UNC’s game.
