LAS VEGAS – Class of 2022 post Jaxon Kohler’s performance Sunday afternoon was a precise, on-court definition of dominating while he led the West to the championship of the second Pangos All-American Festival 4 in the Ampus Academy Gymnasium.

Kohler, from Utah but set to play for his fourth prep program in Southern California Academy, used his size (6-foot-8ish and 240 pounds or so), strength, unparalleled footwork, deep bag of ball and head fakes, shooting touch and – especially – patience to score 53 points as the West toppled its East counterpart, 133-112.

July 9, 2021 By Frank Burlison 738 Comments

MANHATTAN BEACH, Ca. – Three Top 30 Crème of the Crop selections from the June 6-8 Pangos All-American Camp were among the multitude of standouts Thursday night during the Pangos Premier 80 Showcase in Mira Costa High’s spiffy new gymnasium.

Two of the elite prospects from the national class of 2022, 6-foot-8 Aidan Shaw (Brandon, MO, Link Academy) and 7-foot Adrame Diongue (Chandler, AZ, Compass Prep), impacted play at both ends of the floor – notably on defense.

Diongue was among several outstanding shot blockers at the event while Shaw’s energy in challenging dribblers, passers and shooters was in over-gear each moment he was on the floor.

I’ve known Frank for at least 35 years and have the utmost respect for his writing as well as his understanding of, and insight into, basketball. His ability to evaluate basketball prospects is almost impeccable. Most coaches and scouts watch a player and can tell you how good he is NOW. What separates Frank from the others is that he can watch the same player and tell you how good he can be two or three years down the line.
