DUNCANVILLE, TX – A couple of kids from Oklahoma who were Top 30 Crème of the Crop selections at the Pangos All-South Frosh/Soph Camp in 2020 were on hand for Saturday’s first day of the 2021 version of the event.

And it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who watched them in the Duncanville Fieldhouse a year ago that Dalen Fuller and Carl’sheon Young were among the most impressive of the approximately 230 players on hand Saturday in the same building for the opening action in the second of four stops on the Pangos Frosh/Soph national circuit.

TORRANCE – The annual Rolling Hills Prep Basketball Fall Classic tips off at 9:30 Saturday morning with a nine-game schedule.

The event wasn’t held a year ago because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Among the more compelling matchups are Colony-Bishop Montgomery; Westchester-Mater Dei; Rolling Hills Prep-St. John Bosco and Fountain Valley-Crean Lutheran.

The complete schedule:

10:50, Harvard-Westlake vs. Saugus;

12:10 p.m., Campbell Hall vs. St. Francis;

LONG BEACH – The St. John Bosco High basketball team will be in strong position to challenge for a Trinity League title, as well as another slot in the CIF Southern Section Open Division playoff bracket, this season.

And two of the reasons why were on display, front and center, this past weekend during the annual Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp.

SJB freshmen Elzie Harrington and Kade Bonam were two of the most spectacular and productive of the many standouts among the 200-plus players Saturday and Sunday during the event at McBride High.

The fourth “Ryse Up Fall Classic” is set for Saturday and Sunday at St. John Bosco and St. Monica high schools, respectively.

The scheduled 15-game boys basketball event is held in honor of the late Redondo Union High standout guard Ryse Williams, who died of a rare form of cancer (Renal Medullary Carcinoma) just a day before his scheduled graduation at Redondo in June of 2017.

The event wasn’t held a year ago because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

LONG BEACH, Ca. – Coach Grant Rice’s Las Vegas Bishop Gorman program used Friday and Saturday to demonstrate that – even after its 2020-21 season was bounced because of the COVID-19 pandemic – nothing much has changed about one of the nation’s boys high school basketball powerhouses.

The Gaels, after rolling Valencia (CA) West Ranch by 29 points Saturday night, cruised past Trinity League members St. John Bosco (77-45) and Mater Dei (78-60) Sunday at McBride High to bag its third consecutive Ron Massey Memorial Fall Hoops Classic.
