LONG BEACH – The initial stop on the fall Pangos Frosh/Soph Boys’ Basketball Camp circuit wrapped up Sunday afternoon with a couple of dandy all-star games at McBride High.
In the finale, the black jerseys withstood a terrific rally, fueled by guards Hunter Caplan and Karter Butler, to hold off the white jerseys, 105-103, in the West’s Top 30 clash.
Sophomore forward Jalen White scored a team-high 19 points (including three 3s) for the black jerseys while Caplan scored a game-high 21 points (hitting five of seven shots from behind the arc) and Butler added 10 assists, five rebounds and three steals
White was selected the Top 30 Game Most Outstanding Player.
Sophomore forward Adrian Galloway (Kuna in Idaho) scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to pick up MOP honors in the Top 60 Game after leading the white jerseys to a 108-104 decision.
Godson Okokoh – one of a half-dozen or more camp standouts who stand 6-foot-eight or taller – had a sizzling two days, capping the weekend with 13 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots for the black jerseys in the Top 30 Game.
Okokoh (pictured) is from Ottawa but is now playing for Julius Von Hanzlik’s SoCal Academy program.
The next Frosh/Soph sessions are set for Oct. 5&6 (Duncanville, TX/South), Oct. 19&20 (Chicago/Midwest) and Oct. 26&27 (Philadelphia/East).
