LONG BEACH – The final round of play in the Pangos Best of SoCal League is set for Monday night at McBride High.
Two rounds of league games, starting at 7 o’clock (the gymnasium floor is divided into two courts), will be bailed with the 9 ‘clock “Cream of the Crop” game scheduled to get underway at 9 o’clock.
That “all-star” game will showcase a boatload of guys who were standout underclassmen this past season.
Two of those are the offspring of UCLA and NBA standouts, Trent MacLean (6-foot-9 sophomore/Thousand Oaks) and Tajh Ariza (6-6 freshman/St. Bernard), sons of Don MacLean and Trevor Ariza, respectively.
Ariza was a first-team selection on the BurlisonOnBasketball all-Southern California freshman team and is expected to be joined by fellow first-team choices Brandon McCoy Jr. (St. John Bosco), Brannon Martinsen (Mater Dei) and Kaiden Bailey (Crean Lutheran) in the Cream of the Crop game.
Also scheduled to play are the three terrific sophomores from Riverside County – each of which was a standout during the opening two weekends of play.
Six-four Brayden Burries and 6-1 Issac Williamson (Eastvale Roosevelt) – sidelined this season after their transfer from Riverside Poly – and point guard Myles Walker (Riverside JW North) have been members of the “Lakers” team and have shown why they’ll about targeted by a multitude of college coaching staffs during the spring and summer “live” evaluation periods.
For those who can get to McBride Monday night, all of the final night of action will be live-streamed and archived by BallerTV.
