The fourth “Ryse Up Fall Classic” is set for Saturday and Sunday at St. John Bosco and St. Monica high schools, respectively.
The scheduled 15-game boys basketball event is held in honor of the late Redondo Union High standout guard Ryse Williams, who died of a rare form of cancer (Renal Medullary Carcinoma) just a day before his scheduled graduation at Redondo in June of 2017.
The event wasn’t held a year ago because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eight games (beginning at 9 a.m.) are scheduled to be played at St. John Bosco on Saturday, with seven more (starting at 9:30) set for St. Monica on Sunday.
Daily admission is $10, with proceeds benefiting the Ryse Williams Charitable Foundation (www.ryseupnow.org) foundation.
The event is held in conjunction with Team Why Not.
