Cool finale to Rolling Hills Prep State Preview

LOS ANGELES – The Windward High Wildcats, just two night after taking top-ranked Sierra Canyon to the wire, get a pop at No. 3 Corona Centennial Saturday night (8:20) at Harbor College in the finale of the Rolling Hills State Preview/Presented by Scorebook Live.

Coach Colin Pfaff’s Wildcats (18-6 and No. 10 in this week’s BurlisonOnBasketball Top 25) were edged by Sierra Canyon at Cal State Northridge Thursday night, 71-68.

Centennial (19-2) is taking a 15-game winning streak into its Friday night Big VIII League game at Corona Santiago.

The Huskies are led by Portland State-bound guard Paris Dawson (pictured), the Most Outstanding Player honoree at the Tarkanian Classic (Platinum Division, in Las Vegas) and King Cotton Tournament in Pine Bluff, AR.

No. 5 Harvard-Westlake (20-2), which has handed Centennial one of its losses, takes on Santa Monica at 3:30.

The eight-game schedule begins with a 9:30 a.m. girls clash pitting the Fairfax and North Torrance teams.

9:30 a.m., Fairfax vs. North Torrance (girls); 11, Brentwood vs. El Camino Real; 12:30 p.m., Long Beach Poly vs. Taft; 2, Loyola vs. Rolling Hills Prep; 3:30, Santa Monica vs. Harvard-Westlake; 5, Colony vs. Westchester; 7, Mayfair vs. Birmingham; 8:20, Windward vs. Corona Centennial.
