Three “all-Classic at Damien matchups” set Saturday

   Nine teams that played in the Dec. 26-29, 2018 Classic at Damien will be competing in boys’ basketball CIF sectional championships games Saturday.

  Six of those are playing in three of the Southern Sectional matchups:

  *Defending champion Chino Hills, led by 2018 State Player of the Year and USC-bound Onyeka Okongwu (PICTURED), takes on Santa Margarita at 3 o’clock at Cal Baptist for the Division I crown;

   *Rolling Hills Prep and Santa Clarita Christian (the 2018 champions in the 4A and 5AAA divisions, respectively, a year ago) hook up in the 3AA title game, at 4 o’clock, at Godinez High;

   *And, at 8:30, Colony and La Canada meet for the 2A championship.

   Eight other Classic at Damien teams will join those nine clubs in the State Southern Regional competition that gets underway on Tuesday (in divisions I-thru-V) and Wednesday (Open).

  Saturday’s complete schedule (* equals Classic at Damien participant):

CIF Southern Section

At Riverside Cal Baptist University

Division 1: 3 p.m., *Chino Hills vs. *RSM Santa Margarita

Open: 7:30, Torrance Bishop Montgomery vs. Chatsworth Sierra Canyon

At Azusa Pacific University

3A: 12:30 p.m., *Palm Springs vs. SJC Capistrano Valley Christian

2AA: 4:30, *Rancho Cucamonga vs. Lakewood Mayfair

2A: 8:30, *Ontario Colony vs. *La Canada

At Santa Ana Godinez High

5A: Noon, Oxnard Santa Clara vs. Newport Coast Sage Hill

3AA: 4, *San Pedro Rolling Hills Prep vs. *Santa Clarita Christian

4AA: 8, Anaheim Fairmont Prep vs. Newport Pacifica Christian

At Ontario Colony High

4A: 12:15 p.m., Burbank Providence vs. L.A. Ribet Academy

5A: 3:45, North Hollywood Oakwood vs. Upland Western Christian

L.A. City Section

At L.A. Southwest College

I: 3 p.m., L.A. University vs. Granada Hills Charter

Open: 7:30, *Fairfax vs. Westchester

San Diego Section

At UC San Diego

II: 1 p.m., Carlsbad vs. Vista Rancho Buena Vista

Open: El Cajon Foothills Christian vs. Torrey Pines
