NORWALK, Ca. – Here are some potentially compelling individual match-ups in Saturday’s seven-game, Rolling Hills Prep/Scorebook Live State Preview at Cerritos Community College:

12:30 p.m., Fresno State-bound Anthony Holland (Notre Dame-Riverside) vs. unsigned Braelee Albert (Brentwood School): Albert (PICTURED) and Holland are both very strong and competitive “inside-outside” players who led their respective programs to CIF Southern Section titles last March.

2, Cal State Fullerton signee Tory San Antonio (Rancho Verde) vs. Santa Clara-committed Giordan Williams (Long Beach Poly): Each player is trying to get them respective team into the CIF Southern Section Open Division playoff field.

3:30, Elite junior prospect Josh Christopher (Mayfair) vs. Anyone or any combination of players that tries to guard him (St. Bernard).

5, UCLA-bound Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Camarillo) vs. terrific sophomore Devin Askew (Mater Dei). Jaquez scored 54 points Friday night while the Monarchs will try to bounce back from a Trinity League loss at St. John Bosco Friday evening.

7, Unsigned senior Sedrick Altman (Colony) vs. junior standout Johnny Juzang (Harvard-Westlake).

Other games: 11 a.m., El Camino Real vs. Rolling Hills Prep; 8:30 p.m., Wasatch Academy (UT) vs. Santa Monica.

Meet Frank

Frank Burlison

Frank Burlison is a well-regarded basketball writer who was inducted into the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame in 2005. His opinions on the potential of high school and college players are widely respected and sought by college coaches and NBA scouts, personnel directors and general managers from coast to coast. Oh, yes – he can offer plenty of thoughts on movies, television and pop music. Yes, he can rank those, too. Hint: He’s a big The Godfather, Larry Sanders, The Wire and The Beatles loyalist.

I’ve known Frank for at least 35 years and have the utmost respect for his writing as well as his understanding of, and insight into, basketball. His ability to evaluate basketball prospects is almost impeccable. Most coaches and scouts watch a player and can tell you how good he is NOW. What separates Frank from the others is that he can watch the same player and tell you how good he can be two or three years down the line.
