SAN PEDRO – Rolling Hills Prep High will play host to a 16-team event Saturday at Harbor College that will showcase some of the very best boys’ basketball programs in Southern California.
The event will also serve a sort-of “preview” to the third Classic at Damien (Dec. 26-29) as nine of the teams set to play at Harbor College are part of the Classic at Damien field.
Four of the programs scheduled to play Saturday (Rolling Hills Prep, L.A. Brentwood, Santa Ana Mater Dei and Riverside Notre Dame) won CIF Southern Section championships last March.
Six of the players scheduled to play Saturday (Isaiah of Mobley of Rancho Christian/USC; Jaime Jaquez of Camarillo (PICTURED)/UCLA; Julian Rishwain of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame/Boston College; Ethan Anderson of Fairfax/UNLV; Gianni Hunt/Oregon State and Josh Vazquez/Montana of Bishop Montgomery) have already committed to sign with NCAA Division I-affiliated programs next month.
The schedule begins at 9 a.m. and is set to conclude with what should be a terrific showdown between Bishop Montgomery and Rancho Christian, the latter led by Isaiah Mobley and his younger brother, Evan.
The Knights knocked off Rancho Christian last month at Cerritos College in a Ron Massey Memorial Classic semifinal.
