NORWALK, Ca. – Six-foot-10 Charles Bassey, possibly the top prospect in the national Class of 2019, is expected to make his third Pangos All-American Camp appearance this weekend while highlight the 16th version of one of the most high-profile grassroots basketball events in in the country.
The camp tips off Friday night at Cerritos College, with the first rounds of games set for 8:30 and 9:30.
Games continue Saturday afternoon at 3 and 4 o’clock; later that evening at 6:45 and 7:45; and Sunday morning at 9:30 and 10:30.
The Top 50 and Top 25 “Cream of the Crop” All-Star games are expected to be played at 12:45 and 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon.

NCAA-affiliated Division I coaches aren’t allowed to attend the event but, for the first time, the NBA is permitting its scouting personnel to evaluate the estimated 100 players (mostly from the Classes of 2019 and 2020) in attendance.
Bassey, who came to San Antonio from Nigeria in the fall of 2015 but now attends high school in Louisville, was selected the co-Most Outstanding Player at the Pangos Camp a year ago.
He was also superb during the 2016 camp, when he held up quite well against the likes of DeAndre Ayton, who is expected to be the No. 1 selection during the June 21 NBA Draft.
Bassey is likely to be challenged by some elite “big” prospects over the weekend, including the Mobley Brothers of Rancho Christian (6-foot-11 junior-to-be Evan and 6-9 senior-to-be Isaiah) and another Southern California-based standout in 6-9 Carl Lewis of Lynwood.
Highly touted posts from other parts of the camp expected to be on hand include 6-10 senior-to-be Kofi Cockburn of New York (who was outstanding here a year ago) and Class of 2020 standouts such as N’Faly Dante (Kansas), Xavier Foster (Iowa) and Isaiah Todd (Virginia).
Other Southern California standouts expected to be on hand this weekend include a couple of forwards recently committed to UCLA in Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Camarillo) and Jake Kyman (Santa Margarita), as well as the likes of Cassius Stanley (Sierra Canyon), Jarod Lucas (Hacienda Heights Los Altos) and Jaden Shackelford (Hesperia).
