ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – The freshmen and sophomores who looked like the best players during their three camp games didn’t disappoint when it came to all-star game time Sunday afternoon during the second and final day of the first-ever Pangos All-Southeast Frosh/Camp at the Lake Brantley Complex in this Orlando suburb.
Orlando Oak Ridge 6-foot-4 sophomore Niven Glover had pretty much dunked anything that was nailed to the floor during his three camp games for “Florida”.
It was much of the same in the Top 20 All-Star – as well as a couple of 3s for a fellow who jump shots had done a lot of clacking off iron during the first three games – as Glover scored 25 points and grabbed four rebounds to help the white jersey-clad squad to a 103-74 to its black-wearing counterparts.
Glover also cranked in a dunk – over the top of 6-9 shot-blocker deluxe Omar Payne (Kissimmee Osceola) – that surpassed any other high-wire, in-your-mug feat I saw in the first four Pangos regional Frosh/Soph camps this fall.

Glover’s all-star performance sealed the deal in terms of the camp’s Most Outstanding Player honor.
He’d been in the running for it along with two other sophomores, 6-6 Oak Ridge teammate Kaleb Coleman and 6-7 C.J. Walker (Orlando Christian).
Six-eight sophomore Luke Anderson (Lakeland, FL, Lakeland), the most offensively polished player in the camp, scored 18 points (12 via four 3s) and grabbed six rebounds to earn Top 20 Most Outstanding Player for the white squad, while Payne (10 points, six rebounds and five rebounds) was the MOP for the black squad.
Others who played well in the Top 20 game included 6-10 sophomore Christian Lora (Orlando West Oaks), with seven points and seven rebounds for the white jersey-wearers, and 6-8 freshman Kyler Rodmon (Orlando Prep), with 10 points for black jerseys.
My “Best of the Camp” selections follow. They are not based upon “college potential/what kind of prospects” they are but how well they played (effort, shot selection and attitude were big factors) when I watched this weekend.
