LAGUNA NIGUEL, Ca. – The latest fall round of national Pangos All-Frosh/Soph Camps once again did what its predecessors accomplished so succinctly:
A hefty portion of the nation’s top first- and second-year high school players were able to show off their considerable skill and “upside” during stops in Norwalk, CA (West), Lewisville, TX (South), LaGrange, IL (Midwest) and Thorofare, NJ (East) that were run by the founder of the Pangos Camp (including the Pangos All-American Camp held in late spring in Southern California annually), Dinos Trigonis.
A collective 750 or so players from the Classes of 2018 and ’19 (with a handful of quality eighth-graders from ’20) showed up at the respective stops over a five-week stretch of September and October.
What follows are my choices as the 35 most impressive prospects I watched during the fourth camps, with selections (again, from my perspective) for “best” and “runner-up” in eight individual categories.
Also included are “first team” All-Sophomore and All-Freshmen selections.
If you followed my coverage of each of the events, the “winner” of most of the accolades that follow shouldn’t surprise you.
Six-foot-10 Charles Bassey (San Antonio, TX, St. Anthony) overwhelmed some strong competition during the Oct. 10&11 “South” stop in Lewisville (near Dallas) and was clearly the No. 1 player – and prospect – not only there but over the entirety of the four camps.
These camps, of course, didn’t showcase a whole lot of players that no doubt will prove to be among the best in the respective freshmen and sophomore classes.
But it’s difficult imagining that there is anyone, right now, better than Bassey in the Class of 2019.

How much did Spencer Freedman’s family pay you Burlison? It’s laughable that he’s on your list, and you know it. Shame on you, bro
