THE OC, Ca. – The NCAA’s second July “evaluation period” gets underway across the U.S. of A., at 5 o’clock area time on Wednesday and – also like the first and third periods – concludes at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Southern California has three NCAA-certified events, two (“The Big One Tournament” and the Double Pump Best of Summer) of which tip off Wednesday evening.
The Full-Court Press Cream of the Top Challenge doesn’t get underway until Friday (at 8:30 a.m.) at the eight-court MPA Complex in Garden Grove (12552 Western Avenue). It wraps up Saturday evening (each team plays four games).
The-first ever “The Big One Tournament” is being held at the 21-court Misty May Training Center in Irvine (1452 Myford Road). Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 8 and younger.
The Best of Summer Tournament is held at 25-court American Sports Centers in Anaheim (1500 South Anaheim Boulevard). Admission is $10 daily.
The Irvine and Anaheim events conclude on Sunday.
Each of the three events is made up of “travel”, aka, “club” squads made up of high school players, both regionally and nationally.
Sunday, players from the classes of 2017, ’18 and ’19 will participate in the “Pangos Stars of the Future Showcase” at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
