ALL OVER SOCAL, Ca. – The last day of the NCAA’s first July evaluation will be a busy one, indeed, in Southern California.
Three events, The Asics Double Pump Summer Tip-Off (in Anaheim’s American Sports Centers), the Pangos Summer Sweet 16 (in Norwalk’s Cerritos College) and the West Coast Elite/Under-Armour Elite 100 (Pomona-Pitzer College in Claremont), conclude Sunday.
Highlighting the Pumps’ event will be the 17’s Open Division semifinals and championship game.
The semifinals tip at 10:10 a.m., with the Double Pump Elite squad taking on the Southern California All-Stars/Red on Court B-1 and The Big Ballers VXT Black facing New York-based Black Mambas on Court B-2.
The championship game is set for 12:30 p.m., and held on Court A-2.
The Big Ballers are led the Chino Hills High Ball Brothers trio of Lonzo (the best senior-to-be in the West and, perhaps, beyond), Li’Angelo (who will be a junior) and LaMello (a 13-year-old freshman).
Semifinals and championship games will also be held in the 17 “Gold” and 16’s and 15’s divisions in the same facility.
At Cerritos College in the top (Invitational) division, the Arizona Magic Elite faces Belmont Shore at 3 o’clock.
There are games beginning at 9 a.m. in four other divisions as well.
Caveat Emptor: On-site parking will set you back either $10 (the Pumps event) or $5 (Cerritos College), as the paid admissions.
Some of the best players in the country, both regionally and nationally, are slated to play in the Elite 100 All-Stars games that are set to begin at noon, with the games featuring players in the class of 2018, following by 1 p.m. (2017) and 2 o’clock (2016).
The 3 o’clock game is expected to include the “second 20” players in camp (regardless of classification) with things ending with the 4 o’clock “Top 20” game.
There is no charge for parking at Pomona-Pitzer.
