The camp, founded, organized and run by Dinos Trigonis of the Belmont Shore (CA) Basketball Club program, has quite the distinguished group of alumni who are currently NBA standouts.
Among those players are James Harden (Houston), Harrison Barnes (Golden State), Brandon Jennings and Andre Drummond (Detroit), John Wall and Brad Beal (Washington), Demar DeRozan (Toronto), Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City) and DeAndre Jordan (Clippers).
Stanley Johnson (who led Santa Ana Mater Dei to four California championships) and Emmanuel Mudiay – expected to be selected in the upper portion of the first round of the June 25 NBA Draft – were co-Most Outstanding Players at the 2013 Pangs AA Camp.
Some of the most heavily touted and recruited players in the Classes of 2016 and ’17 that Trigonis expects to compete this weekend include guards Trae Young (Norman, OK, North); Rawle Alkins (New York City Chris the King); Mustapha Heron (Westbury, CT, Sacred Heart); Shamorie Ponds (NYC Jefferson); De’Aaron Fox (Cypress, TX, Cypress Lakes); Malik Crowfield (La Place, LA, Riverside Academy); Myles Powell (Trenton, NJ, Catholic); Bryce Aiken (Elizabeth, NJ, St. Patrick); and Devearl Ramsey (Chatsworth, CA, Sierra Canyon).
Among the frontcourt players listed on the “tentative” roster Trigonis released Friday afternoon are T.J. Leaf (El Cajon, CA, Foothills Christian); Michael Cage Jr. (Santa Ana Mater Dei); Billy Preston (who formerly attended St. John Bosco and Redondo in Southern California and now plays in Texas); Preston’s teammates with Prime Prep, Mark Vital and Terrence Ferguson; P.J. Washington (Henderson, NV, Findlay Prep); Yoeli Childs (South Jordan, UT, Bingham); Brandon McCoy (San Diego Morse); Ira Lee and Cody Riley (both of Sierra Canyon); Vance Jackson (Bellflower, CA, St. John Bosco) and De’Ron Davis (Aurora, CO, Overland).
