Lots of cool SoCal hoops action on Saturday

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Ca. – Three outstanding “one-day events” will provide plenty of quality high school hoops action for those craving it on Saturday.

*The Cavalier Classic is being hosted by Serra High in Gardena, with action tipping off at 11 Saturday morning.

Things wrap with the 8 o’clock matchup between Renaissance Academy and the “Ball Brother (Lonzo and LiAngelo)”-led Chino Hills Huskies.

*San Diego Lincoln High is the site for the San Diego-Los Angeles Challenge, whose five-game slate tips at noon.

Defending San Diego Division I champion La Costa Canyon plays L.A. Price at 6 in what should be a nifty clash.

*And Sierra Canyon will host a “Super Showcase”, beginning bright and early at 8:30 a.m.

The host Trailblazers, the top-ranked team in California (at least from my perspective), face Beverly Hills at 7 o’clock.

It should provide a nice matchup of quality post players in Sierra Canyon 6-foot-8 sophomore Cody Riley and 6-10, University of Arizona-bound Chance Comanche.

In another cool matchup Saturday night, unbeaten Fairfax plays once-defeated Cathedral at 5:30 at Huntington Park High.
