PHOENIX – The first Basketball Hall of Fame Hoophall West is set to tip off Friday afternoon at Grand Canyon University at 4 o’clock MST.
Teams representing 13 schools, eight of those from Arizona, will participate including traditional prep powerhouses Mater Dei (from Santa Ana, CA) and Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA).
Mater Dei, led University of Arizona-bound Stanley Johnson, faces Houston Yates Saturday afternoon at 4.
Oak Hill, led by North Carolina State-bound twins Cody and Caleb Martin, plays twice: vs. Houston Yates (Friday at 7) and Las Vegas Bishop Gorman (Saturday at 6).
Gorman, which has two of the best posts (Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter) in the Class of 2015, also plays twice. The Gaels open Friday evening at 5:30 against Orange (CA) Lutheran.
Play begins Friday with a 4 o’clock all-Arizona matchup between Avondale Westview and Goodyear Millennium.
Play wraps up Saturday night at 8 when two of Arizona’s top squads, Tempe Corona Del Sol and Phoenix Shadow Mountain, hook up.
