NEW ORLEANS – Feeling fresh and spry after a good night/early morning’s sleep on Final Four Weekend?

Or, at least, want to see some of the very best high school hoopsters – and some future FF participants – up close and personal on Sunday afternoon.

Then you’re in the right town.

The Second All-American Championships, sponsored and organized by the Gazelle Group, will be played at 2 and 4:30 p.m. CT, respectively, at the Lakefront Arena,

The first contest will match 10-play squads representing the East and West, with a North-South affair to follow.

There are 32 seniors and high juniors set to participate.

The most high-profile players on the East roster include 6-foot-10-plus post players Mitch McGary (Michigan-bound), Kaleb Tarczewski (Arizona) and Dajuan Coleman (Syracuse), along with Nerlens Noel (Tilton School in Everett, MA) – one of the two most sought-after, unsigned players in the country.

The only junior for the East is 6-1 Nate Britt (Gonzaga Prep in Washington, DC), who committed to the University of North Carolina several months ago.

Among the West players are a couple of future Pac 12 Conference guards, Gabe York of Orange, CA, Lutheran (he signed with Arizona in November) and Dominic Artis of Findlay Prep in Henderson, NV (Oregon).

Four Texas juniors are on the West roster, including twins Aaron and Andrew Harrison (Richmond Travis).

The two best seniors in Louisiana, 5-11 Javan Felix (New Orleans St. Augustine/signed with Texas) and 6-6 Ricardo Gathers (Laplace Riverside Academy/committed to Baylor) figure to have vocal in-building support for the South squad.

The best prospect for the North is 6-7 Wisconsin-bound Sam Dekker (Sheyboygan, WI, Lutheran), who should have selected to the McDonald’s All-American squad.

Tickets can be purchased at the Lakefront Arena or via www.ticketmaster.com.

The games will be carried live at ESPN3 and then rebroadcast beginning at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no backup.
Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?

Meet Frank

Frank Burlison

Frank Burlison is a well-regarded basketball writer who was inducted into the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame in 2005. His opinions on the potential of high school and college players are widely respected and sought by college coaches and NBA scouts, personnel directors and general managers from coast to coast. Oh, yes – he can offer plenty of thoughts on movies, television and pop music. Yes, he can rank those, too. Hint: He’s a big The Godfather, Larry Sanders, The Wire and The Beatles loyalist.

I’ve known Frank for at least 35 years and have the utmost respect for his writing as well as his understanding of, and insight into, basketball. His ability to evaluate basketball prospects is almost impeccable. Most coaches and scouts watch a player and can tell you how good he is NOW. What separates Frank from the others is that he can watch the same player and tell you how good he can be two or three years down the line.
