ANAHEIM, CA – It wasn’t the most dazzling of championship affairs – but, in the end, CIF Southern Section championship hardware still left the building with the Pasadena High Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs led Arroyo Grande 9-2 after one quarter, 20-10 at intermission and 27-23 after three quarters before “erupting” for 23 points in the final stanza to come away with a 50-35 victory during the IIIAAA title game in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
The Bulldogs shot only 36 percent from the field but had just 12 turnovers to Arroyo Grande’s 21. The Eagles shot 31 percent from the field.
Junior forward Brandon Jolley, with 18 points, was the only Bulldog to score in double figures.
Both teams start State Southern Regional Division III playoffs Wednesday night.
