My apologies for not posting anything the past few days – I’ve been swamped trying to get the information about my scouting service to as many coaching staffs as possible across the country.

Here’s what I’m up to in the next week or so:

  • Sunday, I’ll be at Taft High (in the San Fernando Valley city of Woodland Hills) where eight games are scheduled involving the likes of Taft, Bellflower St. John Bosco, Mission Hills Alemany, Compton Dominguez and Chatsworth Sierra Canyon. There will be plenty of future Division I college players on hand.
  • Next Wednesday (Sept. 28) I’ll be in Las Vegas, checking out the Dinos Trigonis’ evaluation event at Bishop Gorman High and, hopefully, getting to visit a Findlay Prep workout/practice.
  • I’ll be blogging from both Woodland Hills and Las Vegas.
  • Those of you who faithfully and eagerly followed the Best in the West team that I established for the Long Beach Press-Telegram in 1977, need not worry that you won’t be able to peruse a “BIW” any longer now that I’m no longer with the paper. I don’t have the time to accumulate ballots from all of the coaches who always participated in the balloting. And they are too busy on the recruiting trail right now to participate, anyway. But I’ll produce the 2011-12 version of the “BIW”, anyway, for BurlisonOnBasketball.com. I’ll probably hook you in by listing the “Third 15” (third-team) initially, with the “Second 15” and “Top 15” following later. Stay tuned . . .

Meet Frank

Frank Burlison

Frank Burlison is a well-regarded basketball writer who was inducted into the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame in 2005. His opinions on the potential of high school and college players are widely respected and sought by college coaches and NBA scouts, personnel directors and general managers from coast to coast. Oh, yes – he can offer plenty of thoughts on movies, television and pop music. Yes, he can rank those, too. Hint: He’s a big The Godfather, Larry Sanders, The Wire and The Beatles loyalist.

I’ve known Frank for at least 35 years and have the utmost respect for his writing as well as his understanding of, and insight into, basketball. His ability to evaluate basketball prospects is almost impeccable. Most coaches and scouts watch a player and can tell you how good he is NOW. What separates Frank from the others is that he can watch the same player and tell you how good he can be two or three years down the line.

Frank Burlison is one of the most knowledgeable basketball people in the business! His passion for the game puts him at the top of the list. There are very few people whose evaluation skills I trust like I do Frank’s!
